ABOUT US
Decided Church is a Bible-believing, Christ-centered, contemporary church in the Irmo/Dutch Fork area. Although we don't hold to any one denomination or title, we firmly believe in the doctrines laid out in the Apostle's Creed. Our mission is to make Jesus famous in our lives and in our community. We apologize in advance if we come across a little overbearing at first, but it's because we are all one big family, we love to love people!

One thing we want you to know right off the bat is that we’re not the perfect church, we don’t have it together, and we don’t pretend to. We’ve tried to create an environment that’s welcoming to unchurched people. We’ve tried to cater to the people who need help and are honest about it. We do that because we’ve found the answer for our lives and we want to share it with you. We believe that Jesus is the only one who can meet our needs, save us from our sin, and be strong in our weakness. So when you come through our doors, know this: it’s not about us and it's not about you. It's all about Jesus.
A lot of people ask about our name. Our name, Decided Church, comes from the old chorus, “I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back.” We’re a group of imperfect believers who have made that our rallying cry. We’re following Jesus, the only One worth following. Following Jesus doesn’t save us or get us to heaven, but we want to follow Him because He has saved us and given us a home in heaven! It’s out of love for Him that we follow, because of what He’s done for us. If you have any questions about this, please don’t hesitate to ask us when you come for a visit. It’s probably the most important question you’ll ever ask.
The other thing people ask us about is our lion logo. If you haven’t guessed already, it represents our view of God. There’s a quote in the Chronicles of Narnia, written by C.S. Lewis, where the children run into the lion Aslan, king of the land. They ask one another: “Is he safe?” “No, ‘course He isn’t safe, but he’s good.” That’s one of our favorite descriptions of God. We don’t believe God is safe, comfortable, and gentle all the time. Is He good? Yes. He’s always good, but is that all there is to Him? Just good? Our church focuses on part of God that is unsafe, uncomfortable, wild, and dangerous because that’s the kind of life He’s called us to live. A life of adventure, risk, and abundant joy. So there you have it. Our lion logo was designed to remind us of the wild, powerful, yet good side our God, the God that calls us to follow Him on the adventure of a lifetime.
